We chose the name of our business after a vernal pool that was in our family home in North Smithfield, Rhode Island. Vernal pools are unique wetlands that flood seasonally and then dry up during colder New England months. When our children were younger it was a place of adventure, learning and playing. They named the vernal pool “The Yucky Rivah.” We are also from New England where everyone drops their “r’s” when talking, hence the funny spelling of our name.

Our business officially began in 2017 by me, Kate Hummel-Callahan. I've been a beekeeper for over 8 years and love every second of it. I also have a passion for all things holistic and naturopathic. This is why I created the Yucky Rivah Bee Fahm; a combination of bee products to create natural healing and bath/body products. I create products with only the finest, locally harvested ingredients. I'm also very eco-conscious and provide products that are both good for mother earth and for yourself.
